How EOS Can Help You Thrive (Without Sacrificing Family Time)
Practical strategies to unlock business growth and precious family moments
Hey Beautiful Mama,
Welcome back, it’s Chelsey here!
I hope you’re thriving in your family life and business.
Today, I’m so excited to dive into our conversation because as entrepreneurs and mamas, this is something we all question:
“How to balance our dreams in business with our commitments at home” aka the Work-Life Balance!
Now, I know how overwhelming it can feel.
But what I’m sharing today is something that’s been a game-changer for me, and I know it’ll help you too!
Stephen and I had the most heartwarming chat with Aaron Hovivian, a fellow entrepreneur who’s found a way to grow his business while staying present for his family.
And it all starts with one simple principle:
Family-First Business
Aaron has built a work-life balance that worked for him incredibly well, and I think there’s so much we can learn from his journey (spoiler: it’s all practical!).
So grab your notebook, mama—we’re about to dive into some actionable tips that can truly make a difference. Let’s go!
Blend Business Systems Into Family Life
Okay, I’ll admit it—when I first heard about blending business systems into family life, I was like, what?!
Aren’t we supposed to separate the two?!
I mean, who wants to bring "business" into home, right? But Aaron introduced me to a concept that shifted my thinking.
It’s called the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS).
EOS is about using business tools to keep family discussions organized and on track.
Let’s get started…
1. Quarterly Goals “Rocks”: Break down your big dreams into small, manageable pieces we call these “rocks”.
Whether it’s launching a new product or making more time for family, these bite-sized goals help keep you on track without feeling overwhelmed.
2. Weekly L10 Meetings: This might sound like a corporate thing, but trust me, weekly check-ins are magic.
Stephen and I use these to stay connected on our family and business priorities. We call them our “Marriage-Saving Meetings”, and while it may feel like another thing on your list, they really help!
3. Scorecards to Track Progress: Aaron swears by creating scorecards to track both business and family goals.
It’s like a little reality check (and sometimes we need that, don’t we?) to see if we’re truly making the time for what matters most.
(Take a breath, mama. I know they feel like a lot initially, but these tools can seriously transform how you balance it all. I promise!)
The Art of Delegation & Elevation
Beautiful mama—you DON’T have to do it all (even though it feels like we should).
This was a hard lesson for me, but once I learned to delegate, I could really elevate both my business and family life.
Here’s how it works:
1. Delegate Outside Your Zone of Brilliance: You're uniquely you. Instead of doing AVERAGE work in all of the fields, do the BEST work in something you’re best at and delegate the rest to others. For me, letting go of control was a journey, but when I finally did, it felt like a huge weight lifted.
So ask yourself: What can you delegate—both at work and at home?
2. Create SOPs to Make Delegation Easy: Okay, writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) might sound boring (I know, yawn 🥱), but trust me, it’s so worth it.
Having step-by-step instructions means others can take over when you need a break. And who doesn’t need a break now and then?
When Stephen and I were running our photography business, I used to do everything myself—handling client calls, editing, all the social media stuff.
But once I started delegating, I finally had time to focus on growing the business and spending more time with family.
It’s seriously a game-changer!
Use the "Gap Analyzer" Tool
Okay, here’s a fun little tool and when I say fun, I mean super practical!
It’s called the "Gap Analyzer."
It’s not some fancy software—just a real, actionable exercise.
Start by writing down all your daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
Then, figure out how much time each task takes.
When I did this, I realized I was spending waaay too much time on administrative tasks.
Once I identified that, I cut it out entirely—and wow, what a difference!
Embrace the “How Can I?” Mindset
Okay, beautiful mama, this is one of my favorite parts from my chat with Aaron: the mindset shift from “I can’t” to “How can I?”
Instead of saying, “I can’t afford to outsource” or “I don’t have time,” try shifting your mindset to “How can I make this work?”
It’s all about being resourceful and opening up to creative solutions.
Maybe it’s bartering skills with a friend or using a little extra business profit to hire help—whatever it is, don’t close yourself off to possibilities!
Let’s Wrap-Up
There you have it, Mama! 🌸
A peek behind the scenes at what it takes to integrate business systems into family life and why embracing a Family-First Business can transform both your personal and entrepreneurial journey.
I hope these tips from Aaron’s journey—and my own experiences with Stephen—have given you the clarity and confidence to start blending your business and family life in a way that works for you.
It may feel overwhelming at first, but trust me, these tools can make all the difference.
Small shifts like these will make a big difference in how smoothly things flow. And while it’s not always easy, I know it’s worth it—more connection, more balance, more joy.
