Stop Being "Busy" and Start Being Productive, Mama

Transform your productivity with this NEW approach to work!

Hey Beautiful Mama!

It's Chelsey here! 💝

Ever had one of those days where you felt like you were busy ALL day but somehow got nothing done?

Where every notification, every "quick question," every tiny task pulled you in a different direction?

I've been there too.

In fact, I used to live there!

But recently, I discovered something that has completely transformed how I work…

And more importantly, how we show up for our family.

It's called "deep work," and it's about to change everything for you.

The Truth About Your Scattered Day

You know that frazzled feeling at the end of the day?

Here's what I learned: It's not because you did too much.

It's because you switched tasks too often.

Every time you jump from email to social media to that urgent Slack message, your brain needs 15-45 minutes to fully transition.

No wonder I was exhausted!

The Three Work Modes That Changed Everything

Let me break this down into something super practical:

  1. Shallow Work: Think of this like being a receptionist – always available, always reacting. This is your email-checking, DM-responding, quick-task mode.

  2. Focused Work: Imagine yourself at a coffee shop with headphones on. You're working, but there are still some distractions around.

  3. Deep Work: Picture yourself in a cabin in the woods. No distractions, just pure focus and creativity flowing.

My Deep Work Confession

Want to know something funny?

I actually keep a "focus checklist" on my desk!

Because I've learned that without the right setup, I'll spend four hours doing absolutely nothing productive.

Here's Your Action Plan This Week…

  1. Schedule Your Deep Work:

    • Block out 2-4 hours in your calendar

    • Protect this time like it's a meeting with your biggest client

    • Tell your family and team it's your "cabin in the woods" time

  2. Prepare Your Environment:

    • Gather ALL materials needed before starting

    • Have your snacks and drinks ready

    • Put your phone in another room

    • Close all unnecessary browser tabs

  3. Create Your Focus Ritual:

    • Find your focus music

    • Set up your workspace exactly how you like it

    • Use a visual timer if it helps

    • Have a "do not disturb" sign ready

  4. Theme Your Days:

    • Designate specific days for deep work

    • Save reactive tasks for designated "shallow work" days

    • Group similar activities together

  5. Communicate Your Schedule:

    • Let your team know your deep work hours

    • Set up an email auto-responder explaining your schedule

    • Share your focused time blocks with family

Remember, mama…

This isn't about working more!

It's about working smarter.

When you protect your deep work time, you're actually creating more space for family time, because you're not constantly carrying work thoughts into your evenings.

Think of it like this: Would you rather spend all day picking up tiny pebbles, or spend a focused hour moving one big rock that makes a real difference?

With love and gratitude,
