The Power of Your Words
Discover how your words shape your reality and learn practical ways to communicate more powerfully
Hey Beautiful Mama! 👋
It's Chelsey here, and today I want to share something deeply personal with you that completely changed how I show up in both my business and life!
And it will do the same for you if you let it…
You see, years ago, I found myself absolutely terrified of giving birth.
Despite my mom having wonderful birth experiences, I had let Hollywood movies and dramatic stories paint this scary picture in my head.
But something incredible happened when I started surrounding myself with other mamas who had positive birth stories to share.
Their words.
Their powerful, confident words.
They began reshaping my entire mindset. (Like magic!)
Now, I can talk your ear off about the beauty and strength of childbirth!
This experience taught me something profound…
Our words have the power to transform not just our thoughts, but our entire reality.
And mama, that's exactly what I want to talk about today – how the words we use can either limit us or liberate us to create the life we truly want.
You know those moments when you're feeling overwhelmed, and you catch yourself saying things like "I'm so busy" or "I just can't handle all of this"? I've been there too.
In fact, just last night, I found myself spiraling into those thoughts as I was thinking about our recent book launch and all the other projects we have going on.
But here's what I've learned…
Our words aren't just descriptions of our reality…
They're creating it!
Let me share three powerful communication upgrades that have transformed how I show up in life and business:
1. Be Clear, Concise, and Specific
I remember one time Stephen was excited about buying a fancy new bed.
Well, he mentioned it late one night, and I responded with a casual…
"Oh, that sounds cool."
Next thing I knew, there was a mattress being delivered to our house! 😅
This taught us both a valuable lesson about clear communication.
Instead of vague responses, we now make sure to be specific and direct.
It's saved us so much time, energy, and yes… unexpected deliveries! lol
Action Step: Before sending your next important message (whether it's to a team member, client, or even family), ask yourself:
"Is this clear enough that there's no room for misinterpretation?"
2. Upgrade Your Language
This one is powerful…
Instead of saying…
"I'm so busy."
Try saying…
"I have a full calendar with things I've chosen to prioritize."
Feel the difference?
Right!!
One makes you feel overwhelmed and victimized, while the other puts you in the driver's seat.
Some powerful language upgrades to try:
Instead of "I am overwhelmed" → "I'm experiencing some overwhelm right now"
Instead of "I can't" → "How can I?"
Instead of "I'm so busy" → "My calendar is intentionally full"
Instead of "I am broke" → "I'm working on growing my resources"
Action Step: Pay attention to your default phrases this week.
When you catch yourself using limiting language, pause and rephrase it in a more empowering way.
3. The Magic of Giving First
You know what's fascinating?
The most powerful communication often comes through giving rather than asking.
When Stephen and I started attending business conferences, we used to go in thinking…
"What can we get from this?"
But everything changed when we flipped the script to…
"What can we give?"
Suddenly…
Doors started opening!
Relationships deepened!
And opportunities appeared!
All because we focused on contributing first.
Action Step: Look for one opportunity today to freely share your knowledge or support someone else without expecting anything in return.
The energy you put out will come back multiplied!
Your Action Steps This Week:
Morning Power Words: Start each day by speaking three empowering statements about yourself and your business.
Write them down and put them where you'll see them.Communication Audit: Review your recent emails, social media posts, or text messages.
Notice any patterns in your language that might be holding you back.Giving Goal: Set a goal to help three people in your network this week, whether through sharing knowledge, making connections, or offering support.
Remember, mama, your words aren't just describing your world… they're creating it!
Choose them wisely, use them intentionally, and watch how they transform both your business and life.
With love and gratitude,
Chelsey Diaz
