Hey Beautiful Mama! 👋

Can I share something with you that completely changed how I think about building a business while raising little ones?

Recently, I interviewed Capi Fullerton for our podcast.

She's a mom of three who built a six-figure Amazon business in her first year…

And she started it all while on bed rest after a challenging birth experience with her third baby.

Talk about turning lemons into lemonade!

As she shared her story with me, one thing became crystal clear…

The path to building something meaningful doesn't require massive chunks of uninterrupted time.

Instead, it's about finding those small pockets of time…

Sometimes just 15 minutes and using them with laser focus!

Capi told me…

"My brain is always 100% like, what can I be doing today in my one hour that I have while kids are napping to move my business forward? I want to move the needle every single day."

That mindset shift hit me hard.

I've caught myself thinking…

"I'll work on my business when I have a full day to focus"

or

"I need at least three hours to make real progress."

But Capi's story shows that's just not true.

The Entrepreneurial Itch (That Never Goes Away)

If you're like Capi (and me!), you probably know that feeling… that entrepreneurial itch that just won't go away no matter how full your mama plate gets.

Capi described it perfectly:

"Motherhood in itself is a beast. It's very fulfilling, but I still had that itch, and I wanted to do something that was outside of the house while still being inside the house."

Can you relate? I sure can.

She tried a home bakery business first (she went to culinary school), but found herself spending 8-10 hours in the kitchen on weekends, plus driving all over to deliver cupcakes and wedding cakes.

When she got pregnant with her second child, that became physically impossible.

Later, she tried network marketing, but struggled with always having to be the face of the business and constantly bringing in new people.

The lesson?

Not every business model fits with every season of motherhood.

And that's okay!

Finding the Right Business Model for YOUR Life

What I love about Capi's story is that she kept searching until she found a business model that actually worked with her life as a mom, not against it.

When she discovered selling on Amazon, something clicked.

Here's why it worked for her:

  1. She didn't have to be the face of the brand - This was huge for her as a busy mom who didn't want to be on camera all the time

  2. She could leverage Amazon's systems - They handled shipping and customer service

  3. She could work in small time blocks - No need for 8-hour stretches in the kitchen

But here's the really important part: she chose something she was already knowledgeable about and passionate about.

"I would highly, highly, highly recommend doing something that you're familiar with," Capi advised.

"I found so many different products, but the one that drew me in clearly was the one I knew the most about."

For her, that was kitchen tools and baking supplies (given her culinary background).

This meant she could create authentic content without spending hours researching unfamiliar topics.

Small Actions, Big Results: The 15-Minute Miracle

So how exactly do you build a six-figure business in tiny pockets of time between diaper changes and dinner prep?

Capi's approach boils down to a few key principles:

1. Clear Communication with Your Support System

"My biggest tip is that you need to be really effective with communicating with whoever you are raising your kids with," Capi shared.

She tells her husband exactly what she needs to accomplish and when she prefers to work on it.

This clear communication means she doesn't waste precious work time figuring out childcare.

2. Ditch "Balance" for Strategic Juggling

I love how Capi reframes the impossible ideal of "balance":

"Everybody talks about balance, having balance in your life. When I think of the word balance, I think of two things on a scale that stops. But that is not how it works in my life at all! My life is more of a juggling act… what can I toss to the side for the moment so I can make time for something else?"

Sometimes the business gets set aside for kids. Sometimes kid time gets adjusted for an urgent business need. It's not about perfect balance…

It's about strategic prioritization.

3. Focus on ONE Thing at a Time

Instead of trying to do everything at once, Capi put all her energy into mastering one product before expanding.

"You have to go all in, but that does not mean you have to explode and put 10 things on the shelf," she explained.

"Start small, dial that in, and then once you have your systems in place, then you can duplicate."

Her business hit six figures with just ONE product!

Not the three she initially planned.

By staying focused, she could make the most of those small time blocks.

4. Give Yourself Grace

Perhaps most importantly, Capi emphasized the need for grace:

"On those days when things just aren't working out, you need to give yourself grace. We're not going to be able to touch our business every single day."

She avoids detailed weekly planning because she knows she can't predict sick kids or unexpected interruptions. Instead, she stays flexible and forgives herself when life happens.

The Real-Life Results

So what happened with Capi's focused 15-minute approach?

  • She hit $100 sales days during her very first launch week

  • She's now selling thousands of units per month

  • She reached six figures in revenue in her first year with just ONE product

  • She's built a business that fits around her family life, not the other way around

And perhaps most meaningfully, she's discovered she can be both a present mom AND a successful entrepreneur:

"It's shown me that I can still grow my skills in all different areas of e-commerce, but I can still be a good mom. I'm able to make such a bigger impact now, and my time isn't compromised. I'm still able to be there for my kids, be there for my family."

Your 15-Minute Action Plan

Ready to channel your inner Capi? Here's how to start building your business in the small pockets of time you already have:

1. Find Your 15-Minute Sweet Spot

Identify ONE 15-minute block in your day that you can consistently dedicate to your business. Maybe it's:

  • During morning cartoons

  • While the baby naps

  • After bedtime but before you're too tired

  • First thing in the morning before the house wakes up

The key is consistency, not duration.

2. Choose Your Daily Needle-Mover

Select ONE small action you can take in 15 minutes that will genuinely move your business forward. Some ideas:

  • Research one potential product

  • Create one piece of social content

  • Send three outreach emails

  • Learn one new skill through a tutorial

  • Analyze one aspect of your business data

3. Communicate Your Plan

Tell your partner, family members, or childcare helpers exactly when and how you need support to get your 15 minutes. Be specific about time and expectations.

4. Track Your Progress Visually

Create a simple calendar or chart where you can mark each day you complete your 15-minute habit. Seeing your consistency builds momentum and motivation.

I truly believe that consistent small actions are the not-so-secret weapon of mom entrepreneurs. We may not have 40 uninterrupted hours a week, but we can all find 15 minutes.

And as Capi's story shows, those 15-minute blocks, when used intentionally day after day, can build something truly remarkable.

With love and gratitude,
Chelsey 💕
