The sweetest new adventure (and the surprise it taught me)

From bedtime stories to business dreams, this one’s close to my heart...

Hey Beautiful Mama, 💕

Can I tell you a little secret?

I never set out to become a children’s book author… and yet, here we are—two books later, and my heart is so full. 🥹

If you’ve been following our journey for a while, you know that creating income streams that actually serve our family has been a huge focus for Stephen and me. So when the idea of writing a children's book first came up, I honestly thought—can we really do that?

But now, with one book already out in the world and another just released... I can’t imagine not doing it.

Our first book, Rainmaker: How to Win When Life Gives You Rain, was born from bedtime stories and big conversations with our boys. It teaches kids how to adopt a “how can I?” mindset—something we use every single day in our home and business.

And now? ✨ We just launched our second book…

The Color Collector: 5-Minute Stories for Kids Finding Hidden Joys From Rainbows and Kaleidoscopes

This one feels especially personal. The story was inspired by Kai and Ollie’s curiosity—one day they asked if they could “catch a rainbow,” and while the rainbow hunt didn’t go as planned (LOL), what they found instead was even better.

It’s a story about abundance, imagination, and finding joy in the unexpected. 🌈

You know how much I love talking mindset around here—and this sweet little book captures those same values. It reminds our kids (and us, too, honestly) that even when life doesn’t go as planned… there’s still beauty to be found.

💭 Maybe you’ve had a “rainbow fail” moment lately—where something didn’t go the way you hoped. This story will speak right to that part of your heart… and your child’s, too.

💡 And if you’ve ever wanted to write a kids book…

Here’s the crazy part: you can. You don’t have to be a professional author or illustrator to bring your story to life.

When we launched this children’s book, we used the exact method that many of our Rainmaker community members have used. If you’ve ever had a dream in your heart to write a children’s book or publish something, it’s a lot simpler than you might think! Of course, like anything, it takes work, but below, Stephen and I laid out the process of how you can get published and create an extra income stream for your family, too!

So here’s a little peek behind the curtain:

  • We came up with a story inspired by real life (our kids and our values).

  • We designed the pages in Canva (yep, Canva!)

  • We got illustrations using a mix of freelance help and AI.

  • We uploaded everything to Amazon using a platform called KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing).

Amazon handles all the printing, shipping, and delivery. You don’t need inventory or a huge budget—and you can literally create something beautiful while sitting at your kitchen table.

We even did a whole podcast episode about this: How to Make Money Making Children’s Books (Even If You’re Not an Author or Illustrator). Go give it a listen if you want to peek inside the process!

So whether you’re:

💗 Dreaming about telling your story…

💗 Looking for a meaningful project to do with your family…

💗 Or want a fresh stream of passive income that actually fits your life…

Mama, don’t wait. The world needs your story
