Tiny Rituals, Big Impact: The Self-Care Secret You Need

Discover how daily rituals can transform your motherhood journey...

Hey Beautiful Mama!

It's Chelsey here! đź’ť

I want to tell you about…

Sarah Sanders, a psychotherapist and mama, that stopped me in my tracks.

We were talking about self-care, but not the Instagram-worthy kind.

She asked me something I hadn't considered in years…

"Who were you before you became mama?"

That question hit deep.

Because somewhere between sippy cups and strategy calls, many of us forget that we're women first, then mothers.

Let me share something that happened last week...

Last week caught me in one of those classic mama moments.

Meeting after meeting.

Endless emails flooding my inbox.

Kids needing snacks.

Before I knew it, the afternoon sun was streaming through my office window.

It was 3 PM and I hadn't eaten since breakfast.

Sound familiar?

That's when I remembered Sarah's words about sustainable self-care versus what she calls "emergency self-care."

The Truth About Those Quick Fixes

Here's what nobody's talking about...

While those occasional spa days and shopping trips are nice, they're like using a Band-Aid when you need stitches.

They might make you feel better for a moment, but they're not addressing the deeper need.

Sarah shared how she discovered this herself.

Despite being a therapist who helped others with self-care, she found herself totally disconnected from her own needs after having her baby.

It wasn't until she started implementing tiny daily practices that things began to shift.

Your Permission Slip to Start Small

You don't need a weekend retreat to start taking care of yourself (though those are nice!).

Sarah taught me that sustainable self-care is about tiny, consistent choices that honor your needs as a woman.

Here’s How to Begin:

Body Check-ins: Set 3 alarms on your phone. When they ring, pause for 30 seconds. Notice: Are you hungry? Thirsty? Tense? Take care of that need immediately.

Morning Rituals: Start your day phone-free for 15 minutes. Try journaling, stretching, or enjoying coffee mindfully.

Mini-Boundaries: Eat one meal without multitasking, and take bathroom breaks without your phone (yes, really!).

Transition Moments: Change clothes between work and mom mode or light a candle to signal "me time."

Honor Your Energy Style: Whether you’re an extrovert or introvert, build self-care routines that work for you.

Your Action Step This Week:

Just start small.

Pick one thing from the list above and commit to it.

Remember, it takes time to see results, but these small steps compound. Over time, you’ll notice a big difference because you are worth it.

If you’re waiting for “someday” to start, it will never come.

Remember This Truth…

You're not being selfish when you take care of yourself…

You're being sustainable.

Just like you can't pour from an empty cup, you can't mother from an empty heart.

Think of it this way…

Your car needs regular gas, oil changes, and maintenance.

You wouldn't wait until it breaks down to take care of it, right?

The same goes for you, mama.

Your sustainable self-care practice doesn't need to look Instagram-perfect.

It just needs to work for YOU.

With love and gratitude,
Chelsey Diaz
